CODING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
South Tech Academy, Adult Education NOW has a MEDICAL CODING PROGRAM! The South Tech Academy Adult Education Coding Program is designed to give each qualifying student an opportunity to build a professional interest in the medical field to fill positions in private offices and clinics who need certified coders to insure a high standard of ethical reimbursement for services rendered, regardless of specialty or insurance type.
The two-year projection (2015-2017) of the American Medical Association is to strongly encourage all U.S. licensed physicians and practicing professionals to become efficient in the CMS approved AMA training and use of ICD-10-CM with greater specificity. Change is not something we always want to do, but it must
be done before we can offer patience, compassion, and proper guidance to the customer patients. The job market in Palm Beach County is in demand.
Our goal is to flood our medical community with these properly trained Certified Professional Coders-the AAPC “gold standard” of our industry. With less than a 40-week commitment, a qualified student will be set on a path to obtain a rewarding career to oversee coding of doctors’ offices procedures and diagnostics required by local specialties in medicine. The resources are great and the experienced instructors are dedicated to your purpose.
Medical Terminology MC 1002
This initial 6 week course provides students with an intense overview of common medical language used to apply written documentation from Electronic Health Records Management software and clinical notes into CPT Procedures with the most specific diagnostic codes for billing with the greatest specificity.
Anatomy & Physiology MC 1003
The second 6 week class in this program series will prepare a more in-depth look at the eleven major body systems reviewed in a discussion of planes, regions, organ relationship, and parts involved in common medical procedures to determine healthy function vs. signs and symptoms of illness and disease.
Insurance Processing Types MC 1004
The third 6 week class will tour the many differences of how private and group insurance providers process health claims for reimbursement. The definition of new business terminology will be introduced here with stated rules and national policies that must be followed as a matter of professionalism in the coding industry.
ICD-10-CM Codes MC 1005
The fourth 6 week class is the classic development of special skills learned for the purpose of identifying the details, circumstances, and location of when a diagnosis was made by FL licensed medical practitioners to continue care and treatment of their patients. AMA Coding Manuals and acquired updates will be mandatory and hours of practice will produce better accuracy and speed.
CPT Codes MC 1006
The fifth 6 week class will help to identify useful medical procedures ordered by FL licensed practitioners in the process of identifying disease with clinical correlation. The proper use of EIN/Fed.ID numbers must be used properly to prevent fraud as well as the correct credentialing of each party performing the coded procedure. AMA Coding Manuals and acquired updates will be mandatory and hours of practice will produce better accuracy and speed.
