Superintendent of SouthTech Schools, James Kidd
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to an exciting new school year for SouthTech Schools. Staff and I look forward to a challenging and rewarding academic year, as we assist yet another group of individuals as they prepare for college, career and productive citizenship, and through those preparations, a productive life. We’re also excited about the path of excellence we will pursue this year at our middle school - SouthTech Preparatory Academy, our career- and college-focused high school- SouthTech Academy, and SouthTech Adult Education, which serves adult workforce needs.
SouthTech Schools’ core mission is to innovatively produce students who are ready for their next steps in life, whether that means going to college, beginning a career or simply being a productive, engaged member of the community. To fulfill this mission, SouthTech’s Governing Board and staff continually monitor and evaluate performance each school year. Necessary adjustments are made to improve the effectiveness of our schools and assure student success. I strongly urge students and parents to carefully read the Student Handbook in preparation for the coming school year, and become fully knowledgeable of the school’s expectations of students, including behavior, dress, and performance requirements, and other student responsibilities.
Student success is the ultimate goal of SouthTech Schools. This goal can only be optimally accomplished through a three-way partnership agreement between school staff, parents and students. I encourage both parents and students to be fully engaged and responsible for your respective roles in this endeavor. Students, take ownership of your future and apply yourself with a commitment to excellence. Parents, I challenge you to become highly involved in your student’s education and personal development. Establish and maintain regular communication with school staff. Get involved in the school as a volunteer or by serving on a committee. Please help us maintain a nurturing and safe school environment. Your involvement in your child’s education is central to their success in life. Before you know it, we’ll be celebrating our mutual successes together at graduation.
Make it a great year!
