How to Apply for Bright Futures 

Students must complete the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) before high school graduation, or forever forfeit BF eligibility.  This application includes other state scholarships and grant programs. 

Submit ONE application – update as needed (access with User ID and PIN provided)

1. www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org

2. Select State Grants, Scholarships & Applications.

3.Under Applicant Quick Links, select Student Application.

4. After reviewing the handbook materials, select proceed to application.

5. The FFAA will provide a user ID and PIN upon submitting the application via the saved results page and an email.  Activate your User ID and PIN – Know it, Use it, Be Responsible for your state financial aid.    This is how you will check the status of your awards.

6. Check your status in March and August.  ​

Other Information About Eligibility Evaluations

​Your application will be evaluated twice a year based on transcripts electronically sent to the Florida Department of Education by the graduating high school:
 
After 7th semester (fall term) based on:
  • Coursework completed
  • Coursework in progress for spring semester
  • Test scores for tests taken through January 31
  • Community service completed by end of fall term
 
After 8th semester (graduation) based on:
  • Coursework completed
  • Test scores for all tests taken through June 30
  • Community service completed by high school graduation
