Welcome to SouthTech Preparatory Academy
SouthTech Preparatory Academy, a tuition-free, charter middle school, serves students in grades 6-8, educating them in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) disciplines and through career academies. Providing small class sizes for individualized learning, SouthTech Preparatory Academy teachers focus on students’ unique needs, progress and success as they transition to the high school, and continue their journey towards becoming career- and college-ready. Their two-story, state-of-the-art facility is outfitted with smart boards, computer labs and a MakerSpace.
SouthTech Prep’s MakerSpace is a collaborative, student centered learning space. Through the use of high-tech modern equipment, students engage in authentic hands-on learning that fosters creativity and self-efficacy. With lessons centered around the application of robotics, 3D printing and coding, students tackle real-world problems. This space is used both during class time and in an extended school day to facilitate hands-on discovery learning.
